Jacek Bromski, a Polish director and long-time president of the organization, reportedly earned as much as 108,000 PLN per month (25,920 EUR).
"Jacek Bromski treated the SFP like a cash cow. From January 2020 to February 2024, he collected over 3.7 million PLN. According to ministry auditors, these costs were not disclosed in the association's internal regulations," Gazeta Wyborcza wrote.
Polish Ministry of Culture censors report on SFP salaries and bonuses
The newspaper also revealed that the Polish Ministry of Culture had redacted the most controversial sections of the report from the inspection.
Even more than the president, Ewa Szacha-Głuchowicz, the director of the SFP office, earned significantly. By Bromski's decision, in addition to her monthly salary (initially 30,000 PLN, later raised to 35,000 PLN) (7,200 EUR, later raised to 8,400 EUR), she received numerous bonuses and rewards. In total, from January 2020 to the end of March 2023, she was paid nearly 5.6 million PLN (1.34 million EUR).
The newspaper highlights that "both Ewa Szacha-Głuchowicz and Jacek Bromski would surpass, for example, the president of the Warsaw Stock Exchange (550,000 PLN annually) (132,000 EUR), PKP Cargo, or the Bank Ochrony Środowiska."
It was also pointed out that "to understand the disparity between the salaries of President Jacek Bromski and Director Ewa Szacha-Głuchowicz, and the money allocated to support the association's members, one can compare their earnings to the stipends offered by SFP to young filmmakers.
These stipends amount to 2,000 PLN (480 EUR) per month for 12 months, totaling 24,000 PLN (5,760 EUR)."
Penny assistance for young filmmakers, millions spent on alcohol
The Polish daily Rzeczpospolita reported that the Polish Film Association spent more on alcohol than on scholarships for young filmmakers, referring to the same issue.

During the same period, senior filmmakers received social allowances of up to 6,000 PLN (1,440 EUR).
The Ministry of Culture has called for corrective actions and transparency in spending, requiring the new SFP president to report within 30 days.
