The movie commemorates the heroic efforts of Gareth Jones, the Welsh journalist who revealed the horrifying story of Stalin's imposed famine in 1932-33.
Gareth Jones, who is played by James Norton, travels through the pre-war Soviet Union resisting attempts by the security services to censor him, in order to expose the artificially engineered famine, which killed millions of people.
