The books, entitled "Poles for the world. Known unknowns" and "Polish architects in the world" – have been published by the Polish foreign ministry’s Department of Cooperation with Polish Diaspora and Poles Abroad, which promote the achievements of Poles unknown to a wider public.
The first book, "Poles for the world. Known unknowns", presents the stories of Poles such as Wacław Sieroszewski - a researcher of Russia’s Yakutia region, Antoni Patek - a pioneer in the production of watches, Kazimierz Nowak - a forerunner of Polish reportage and a traveler in Africa, or Stefan Drzewiecki - a pioneer of aviation and submarine navigation.
The second publication, entitled "Polish architects in the world", tells about Poland’s most distinguished architects who designed buildings in places from St. Petersburg and Kiev through Siberia to Asia and South America.
“Both books presented are extraordinary stories of outstanding Poles whose hearts, despite being separated from their homeland, were true to Poland,” said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk during a press briefing.
