Remembering Polish poet Czesław Miłosz

June 30 marks the 110th anniversary of the birth of poet and writer Czesław Miłosz, whose "Captive Mind" became a classic of literature on totalitarianism. A winner of the Nobel literary prize, he was a universal author who touched upon problems common to people no matter where they live.

Miłosz was born on June 30, 1911, in Seteniai, present-day Lithuania. He was a Polish poet, a Lithuanian and US citizen, a writer who appealed to many, but at the same time difficult to classify.
