Painted at the city's Hetmańska artery, the mural portrays Zelensky as Harry Potter, the eponymous protagonist of a world-famous series of fantasy novels by UK author J. K. Rowling. With characteristic round glasses and a bolt-shaped scar, Zelensky is set against the backdrop of Sofiyskaya Square in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv, and waves the Ukrainian flag.
The mural is Poznan's third devoted to the Russo-Ukrainian war. Another depicts Russia's head of state Vladimir Putin as Harry Potter's archenemy, the series' main villain Lord Voldemort. All three paintings were created by a popular street artist, Kawu, codziennypoznan.pl wrote.
Murals have of late gathered steam in Polish cities as a way of brightening up grey buildings. Poland's wall art rose to international fame after the US broadcaster CNN hailed Polish murals as "bigger than Banksy," according to the culture.pl website.
The anti-war mural appeared as Ukraine battles against a Russian military invasion, launched by Putin on February 24.
