Performers this year include the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra from London, pianists Bruce Liu, Yulianna Avdeeva, Ewa Pobłocka and Janusz Olejniczak, and violinist Fabio Biondi and his Europa Galante ensemble.
Festival highlights include a concert performance of Verdi’s opera Un giorno di regno, ossia Il finto Stanislao (A One-Day Reign, or The Pretend Stanislaus), in which a French officer impersonates 18th-century Polish king Stanisław Leszczyński.
The opera will be performed by the Europa Galante ensemble under Biondi, with Italian soloists and the Podlasie Opera Choir.
The Chopin and His Europe International Festival runs in Warsaw until August 31.
Artur Szklener, director of the Fryderyk Chopin Institute in Warsaw, spoke to Elżbieta Krajewska about this year’s edition.
