The programme of the concert reflects the ensemble’s strong commitment to contemporary Polish music and includes a selection of sacred works by Krzysztof Penderecki (1933-2020) and Henryk Mikołaj Górecki (1933-2010).

Founded in 1948 in the southern city of Kraków, and based there ever since, the Polish Radio Choir has won an international reputation for its performances of both unaccompanied and vocal-instrumental works of different periods and styles.

It has given world premieres of works by not only Penderecki and Górecki, but also Witold Lutosławski and Wojciech Kilar. It also collaborates with a new generation of Polish composers, including Agata Zubel, Paweł Łukaszewski and Paweł Mykietyn.

Foreign tours have taken the Polish Radio Choir to many European countries, Canada, South Korea and Israel.

The choir’s artistic director is Maria Piotrowska-Bogalecka.
