The event, due to be held from July 5 to 9 by the St. Maximilian Maria Kolbe Institute for the Development of the Polish Language, aims to strengthen cooperation and support in teaching Polish and promoting Polish culture among Poles living abroad.

Teachers, lecturers, students, researchers and activists from Polish communities abroad will engage in panel discussions, popular science lectures and educational workshops aimed at promoting the development of Polish language teaching abroad.

Poland's Education and Science Minister Przemysław Czarnek told reporters that supporting education in Polish communities abroad is one of the priorities of his ministry.

"Supporting Polish education overseas is one of our priorities," Czarnek said. "Education in Polish schools abroad influences knowledge of the Polish language, raises the level of understanding about Poland, and shapes the character and national identity of young Poles growing up abroad."

Czarnek also stressed "the importance of international cooperation and recognition of Polish science," Polish state news agency PAP reported.

The First World Congress of Polish Education and Science Abroad will be held under the auspices of Poland's First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda.
