The annual awards, which had been revived in 2019 after a hiatus of more than a decade, were presented in four categories, Music, Image, Printed Word, and Idea.

Pomianowska, a professor at the Krzysztof Penderecki Academy of Music in Kraków, southern Poland, was announced the winner in the Music category at a ceremony in Warsaw on Sunday night.

Meanwhile, film director Filip Zylber and cinematographer Piotr Śliskowski picked up the prize for best Image, recognizing their work on the TV series Dewajtis, while literary critic and journalist Krzysztof Masłoń won in the Printed Word category.

Each of the winners earned a statuette and a cash prize of PLN 100,000 (EUR 21,335, USD 24,170), public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported

Polish Radio sponsored the award in the Music category for the fifth time.

Meanwhile, public television broadcaster TVP took care of selecting the winner in the Image category, and the state news agency PAP was in charge of the Printed Word award.

The winner in the Idea category was selected by the heads of 17 regional broadcasters overseen by Polish Radio. The award went to poet, playwright and writer Jarosław Jakubowski.

This year's 's nominees in the Music category included saxophonist Piotr Baron and singer Marek Piekarczyk.

Polish Radio CEO Agnieszka Kamińska told reporters last week that the nominees represented a variety of music genres, including classical music, pop, jazz and folk.

Kamińska has previously said that the Polish Radio awards in the Music category are intended for "remarkable artists who contribute to national culture in the most valuable way by creating original, ambitious and extraordinary music that transgresses stylistic boundaries."

The originator of Poland’s Public Media Awards, Krzysztof Czabański, who heads a watchdog body known as the National Media Council, has said that the annual awards are “a form of state patronage of the arts.”
