Now in its 18th year, the festival is dedicated to the city of Warsaw and explores a multitude of topics related to the Polish capital, its history, prominent figures and contemporary life.
This year, the festival's main reference is the iconic 1980s Polish comedy Kingsajz.
The film hit cinemas just a year before the collapse of communism in the country, but its themes, such as dreams of a brighter future and a better life, freedom and fulfilment, remain valid to this day.
Elżbieta Krajewska spoke to Dariusz Gawin of the Warsaw-based Stefan Starzyński Institute, the force behind the festival.
