The Warsaw Arcade Museum, which chronicles the evolution of video games from the 1970s to the present day, is among the few dedicated retro game sites in Central and Eastern Europe, Poland's PAP news agency reported on Tuesday.

The venue allows visitors to play on original arcade machines from the 1970s and 1980s.

"We showcase the history of video game development, from the earliest arcade games like Space Invaders and Asteroids, through the golden era of arcades in the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s,” the museum’s founder Marcin Moszczyński told the PAP news agency.

He stressed that all the games in the collection are original.

"We are an interactive museum, allowing visitors to use all the arcade machines and embark on a nostalgic journey through time,”  Moszczyński said.

“It’s also a fantastic site for family bonding, where fathers from the 40+ generation can introduce their children to the games that once fascinated them," he added.

The Warsaw Arcade Museum showcases an impressive array of over 120 arcade machines, including iconic titles such as Asteroids, Space Invaders, Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, and the first Super Mario Bros. arcade machine.

The collection also features sought-after classics such as Joust, Defender and Zaxxon.

Among the collection are numerous rare and highly coveted titles, including the first Star Wars arcade machine from 1983 by Atari, which utilizes 3D vector graphics, the PAP news agency report.

For those looking for a challenge, the notoriously difficult Ghosts 'n Goblins is available to test their skills.

All the games are displayed in their original dedicated cabinets, sourced from the United States, Japan, and various European collections.
