Birthday concerts, art workshops, tours of art studios, and unique walks through places that remember the most dramatic moments in the history of Poland's capital will be a treat not only for tourists but also for native Warsaw residents who usually avoid the Old Town during the summer season.

"We are organizing this entire birthday celebration to show that the Old Town, which is mostly associated with tourists by the average Warsaw resident, is the most cultural district of Warsaw," explained Karolina Ziębińska, Director of the Museum of Warsaw, in an interview with Polish Radio. She also clarified the age of Warsaw's Old Town, which was 90% destroyed during World War II.

"It was decided to rebuild it rather than level it and build something new. It was such a gigantic and heroic undertaking that the Old Town Market Square, along with several neighboring streets, was ceremoniously opened on July 22, 1953. Since then, we have counted the birthdays of the newly rebuilt Old Town," Ziębińska confirmed.

The festivities will kick off this Friday. At 5 PM, the Old Town's birthday will be inaugurated by a concert by the band Czessband, accompanied by the seniors' group Cała Praga Śpiewa.

At 6 PM, the legendary hip-hop group Molesta Ewenement will take the stage in the Old Town. The detailed program of all events is available on the website grupastarowka.pl.
