This year's event will be held in the first half of September and will feature three concerts.
On Sunday, September 8, the Chromatophonic Trio, composed of Roksana Kwaśnikowska (violin), Marcel Markowski (cello), and Andrzej Karałow (piano), will perform works by Viktor Kosenko (1896-1938) and Valentin Sylvestrov (b. 1937).
A selection of classical choral works by Ukrainian composers will be featured in the September 10 concert by the Camerata Silesia Singers’ Ensemble from Katowice, one of Poland’s top choirs. Their programme includes pieces by Maksym Berezovsky (1745-1777), Dmytro Bortniansky (1751-1825), Stepan Degtyarev (1766-1813), and Artem Vedel (1767-1808).
The final concert on September 13 will present chamber music by Yurii Pikush (b. 1998), Zoltan Almashi (b. 1975), and Oleksandr Kozarenko (1963-2023), performed by the Kyiv Camerata National Ensemble of Soloists, conducted by Roman Rewakowicz, the festival’s founder and artistic director.
Pikush’s composition "Escape Velocity" for chamber orchestra was commissioned by the Pro Musica Viva Foundation, the festival’s organizer.
The Pro Musica Viva Foundation, established by Rewakowicz in 1998, is dedicated to promoting Polish music in Ukraine and Ukrainian music in Poland. The Ukrainian Music Days festival was launched in 1999 and was held irregularly for many years. It became an annual event four years ago.
The event is held under the patronage of Polish Radio External Service.
