Known for pushing the boundaries of jazz, Więcek's latest project blends his signature beats with the dynamics of a jazz quartet.
hoshii, featuring pianist Grzegorz Tarwid, bassist Max Mucha, and drummer Miłosz Berdzik, performs music that originates from beats crafted by Więcek and then arranged for the ensemble.
The concert is part of the 7th edition of the Courtyard of Culture series, themed "Closer," which pays tribute to Melchior Wańkowicz, one of Poland's most distinguished reporters and the cultural patron of 2024. The series aims to bring audiences closer to the current trends in Polish music, offering a rich program that reflects the complexity of contemporary issues through sound.
Więcek, a graduate of the prestigious Copenhagen music conservatory, has earned numerous accolades, including the prestigious Polish award, the Fryderyk. Since 2017, he has been widely recognized as one of the top young saxophonists in Poland. In 2020, he was also named by the American magazine DownBeat as one of the 25 musicians shaping the future of jazz.
The free concert will take place on August 23 at 8 pm at the courtyard of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage in Warsaw.
The "Courtyard of Culture" series is co-organized by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the National Center for Culture, with Warsaw Mayor, Rafał Trzaskowski, serving as the honorary patron.
