The film portrays Mickiewicz as a multi-dimensional creator searching for his path in life, according to director Waldemar Szarek, who spoke after a press screening for Polish media.
Set during a five-day period in 1820, the film stars Nikodem Rozbicki, a well-known young actor, as Adam Mickiewicz. At this point, Mickiewicz had already released a poem from "Ballady i romanse," a landmark work of Polish Romanticism.
Aleksandra Piotrowska, who portrays Maryla Wereszczakówna, noted, "I've read and heard that Mickiewicz lost his romantic side when he became a poet, and he lost his Romanticism when he started discussing politics."
Adam Zaremba, who portrays Michał Wereszczak, Maryla’s brother, explains that the film focuses primarily on the love of the great Polish poet and what shapes him as a person and citizen.
"My character and his involvement in political intrigues make Adam realize that the world is not just about beautiful ideas but also about interests," adds actor Adrian Zaremba.
The cast also includes Antoni Sałaj, Marek Kalita, Piotr Garlicki, Andrzej Mastalerz, Dorota Landowska, and Paweł Charyton.
