The programme of the concert also includes the Manru Suite by Scottish composer Ronald Stevenson (1928-2015) which is based on motifs from the opera Manru by the Polish composer, pianist and statesman Ignacy Jan Paderewski.

A day before the Wigmore Hall appearance, on Friday, Jablonski will be the guest at an event at Ognisko Polskie, the Polish Hearth Club, in London, during which he will perform Szymanowski’s work and discuss his musical legacy in conversation with Anastasia Belina.

The event will also include screenings of two short films about Szymanowski.

Born in 1971 to a Swedish mother and Polish father, Jablonski has been performing Szymanowski’s works since the beginning of his illustrious career at the age of 17.

He now serves as a global ambassador for ’Szymanowski’, a joint project with the Polish Cultural Institute in London, the PWM Polish Music Publishers and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute in Warsaw.

Later this season, Jablonski will be playing works by both Szymanowski and Bacewicz at the Blekinge International Piano Festival in Sweden (October 25) and in Seoul, South Korea (December 2 and 3).

Jablonski’s discography includes a selection of Bacewicz’s etudes and sonatas. Released on the Ondine label, the recording received Editor’s Choice from the Gramophone magazine.
