The prize pool totals EUR 40,000, with EUR 15,000 going to the winner.

A prizewinners’ concert is scheduled for Sunday, October 13.

The competition's international jury is chaired by renowned Polish baritone Andrzej Dobber and includes, among others, Hannah Blum, casting director of Semperoper Dresden in Germany, and Alan Green, director of the Zemsky Green Artist Management Agency in New York.

First held as a national event in 1979, the Adam Didur Competition became international in 2004.

This year’s 5th edition coincides with the 150th anniversary of the birth of Adam Didur, a famous Polish bass singer who performed at prestigious venues such as the Metropolitan Opera in New York and La Scala in Milan.

Critics praised Didur's sonorous, dark-timbred voice, suited for both Rossini and Wagner roles.

After retiring, he returned to Poland and founded the Silesian Opera, which debuted in June 1945 with a production of Moniuszko’s Halka.

Didur died of heart attack on January 7, 1946, after collapsing during a singing class at the Music Conservatory in Katowice.
