The book offers readers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into one of the world’s most iconic and powerful residences: the White House.

Wałkuski, who has covered four U.S. presidents as a Washington correspondent, provides a unique, first-hand account of the inner workings of the White House press corps. His years of experience have granted him rare access, as he traveled with the President aboard Air Force One and observed daily life inside the White House. “I’ve had the opportunity to be close to the President, to travel with him, and to witness the daily operations of the most important office in the U.S., if not the world,” Wałkuski said in an interview about the book’s launch.

The journalist said that his new book is not just a story about a building, but a narrative about the people—presidents, their families, staff, and journalists—who contribute to the atmosphere of the White House. Wałkuski weaves his personal experiences and humorous anecdotes to provide a lively account of daily life at the heart of American democracy. The book also features a selection of photographs.

Marek Wałkuski has been Polish Radio’s permanent U.S. correspondent since 2002, covering major North American events, including NATO summits, presidential elections, and visits from Polish politicians. This is his fourth book on the United States, following three previous bestsellers.
