The ambitious goal is to stage a 33-hour concert in one of the city’s pubs, surpassing last year’s 32-hour achievement.
This marks the sixth edition of the annual event, which began in 2018 with a 28-hour performance.
Marek Gąsiorowski, a journalist and musician who is one of the organizers, confirmed the marathon will start on December 13 at 5 p.m. and conclude in the early hours of December 15.
Gąsiorowski said that the initiative aims to promote blues music and its related genres while showcasing the musical culture of Poland's eastern Podlaskie region.
This year’s event will carry the theme “Blues and its Younger Brothers,” highlighting diverse influences within the genre.
Blues, which originated in late-19th century America, has been the foundation for jazz, rock and other musical styles.
Twenty-two performers, including international guests, are set to participate.
The concert will open with an acoustic set by Kasa Chorych, a legendary blues band originally from Białystok.
Other acts will include musicians from various genres, such as local rapper Cira and folk group The Bumpers.
The grand finale will feature the Leszek Chichoński Guitar Workshop & Jose Torres and the Białystok Blues Session, a group comprising several generations of local blues musicians.
The Blues Session lineup includes members who have been shaping the city’s blues scene for nearly 50 years, with roots in iconic bands such as the Devil Blues and the Cynamonowa Kaczka.
The event, described by organizers as "the longest concert in Poland," is supported by the Podlaskie regional government and organized by the Polacy znad Niemna foundation in collaboration with Białystok’s music community.
