French actor Lambert Wilson is most well-known for his role as the Merovingian in The Matrix:
Wilson has recently praised Polish actor Eryk Kulm. The two have been working on the upcoming film Chopin, Chopin! where Kulm plays the title role:
Wilson, who portrays King Louis-Philippe I of France, has expressed his admiration for Kulm’s work ethic, noting the influence of his musical training. The film, directed by Michał Kwieciński, portrays the final years of composer Frédéric Chopin in Paris, when Wilson’s royal character offered support to Chopin.
Lambert Wilson has worked with Polish directors before and has also been deeply affected by Chopin’s music: he has performed Chopin-themed plays and visited Żelazowa Wola, the composer’s birthplace, in the 1980s.
Chopin, Chopin! is an international production shot in Poland, France, and Mallorca, featuring both Polish and French actors. The film, which includes Karolina Gruszka and Maja Ostaszewska, is set for release in 2025, coinciding with the International Chopin Piano Competition.
