At the same time, the crime solving rate increased by 2.3 percent to almost 74 percent, according to Mariusz Ciarka, spokesman for National Police Headquarters (KGP).

He told state news agency PAP that in 2020 officers, apart from performing their usual tasks, supported the Polish public health authorities in the battle against the coronavirus.

As part of these new responsibilities, police carried out more than 42 million checks on people under quarantine and inspected almost 1 million retail outlets to ensure compliance with coronavirus restrictions, Ciarka said.
