The 2022 Ice Hockey World Championships Division I Group B will see both men's and women's teams from around the world flock to southern Poland next spring to compete in two separate tournaments, the Polish Ice Hockey Federation (PZHL) said.

The men's tournament is scheduled to be held at Katowice's landmark Spodek Arena from April 25 to May 1, 2022, while the women's event will take place at the city's Jantor Ice Rink from April 8 to 14, according to the Polish Ice Hockey Federation.

The selection of Katowice as the host city for the two tournaments was announced by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) during its recent congress in Riga, Latvia, Polish officials said.

"We are happy to be a stable partner for the IIHF and get to host two important senior tournaments in Poland," said Marta Zawadzka, vice president of the Polish Ice Hockey Federation and a member of the IIHF board.

Poland in June last year appointed Slovak Robert Kalaber as coach of its national men’s ice hockey team.
