The 24-year-old Pole dispatched the 27-year-old American 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 in their second-round match at the grass-court Grand Slam tournament in the British capital on Thursday.
Hurkacz, who is ranked world No. 18 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), will next face Kazakhstan's 19-year-old Alexander Bublik for a place in the last 16.

The Polish player, who is coached by American Craig Boynton, in April won the men's singles at the Miami Open, a major US tournament sometimes referred to as "the fifth Grand Slam."
In another high point for Polish tennis at Wimbledon on Thursday evening, Poland's Łukasz Kubot and Brazil's Marcelo Melo advanced to the second round of the men's doubles competition after beating Americans Nathaniel Lammons and Jackson Withrow 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.
Earlier in the day, Poland's Magda Linette sensationally defeated Ukraine's Elina Svitolina 6-3, 6-4 to move into the third round of the women's singles in London, following in the footsteps of fellow Pole Iga Świątek, who eliminated Russia's Vera Zvonareva on Wednesday.
