This Saturday marks the twentieth anniversary of attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and the Pentagon in Washington, DC, which killed near on 3 thousand people, including six Poles.
President Duda laid flowers in front of a commemorative plaque mounted in the chapel of the Presidential Palace in Warsaw. Alongside the plaque, there is also a cross cut out of metal contruction elements of the WTC towers, presented by police and fire officers who had taken part in the rescue operation.
Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak wrote in a tweet: "Our hearts go out on this tragic anniversary to our American friends and all those who lost their loved ones in the barbaric attack of #September11, 2001. We stand by your side today as we stood then, 20 years ago. Never forget!"
