According to the study, conducted by pollster Ipsos, two-thirds of Polish men and women will observe the occasion this year, with a fifth of respondents planning to spend more than PLN 200 (EUR 44) for the purpose.
Last year, 13 percent of Poles shelled out this much on Valentine’s Day, according to Ipsos.
Moreover, Polish people are keen to celebrate love and romance regardless of age and the length of their relationships, the survey found.
This year, Poles are most likely to celebrate at home, according to the survey. More than a third, 35 percent, are planning to watch movies and 26 percent will be having a romantic bath.
Twenty-three percent are set to order food delivery, while 14 percent will be cooking a meal together.
One in three respondents plans to visit a restaurant and about 20 percent will go to a cinema, the poll found.
Love and finances
Meanwhile, roughly half of Poles believe that couples should split their expenses evenly, while 41 percent say "the man should bear the brunt of the costs," according to another study, commissioned by Poland’s National Debt Register company (KRD).
Its CEO Adam Łącki said that “half of those in relationships have nothing against expenses being covered from a shared budget. The other half say each of the partners should finance their own needs.”
Almost 43 percent of those in relationships said they were overseeing their finances together, while around 38 percent said "the woman has assumed the role," the study found, according to Poland's PAP news agency.
