Polish gov’t approves minimum wage hike

Poland’s government has approved a plan to increase the country’s minimum wage to PLN 3,383 (EUR 710, USD 720) a month from January next year, followed by a further hike to PLN 3,450 (EUR 725, USD 735) from July 1, 2023, according to an announcement.

Meanwhile, the minimum hourly rate is set to go up to PLN 22.10 (EUR 4.65, USD 4.70) effective January 1 and PLN 22.50 (EUR 4.70, USD 4.80) as of July 1, 2023, officials announced on Thursday.

The country’s minimum monthly wage rose to PLN 3,010 at the start of this year, from PLN 2,800 in 2021.

Meanwhile, the minimum hourly rate in Poland is currently set at PLN 19.60, up from PLN 18.30 a year earlier.

The average gross Polish monthly wage in June was PLN 6,554.87, the state-run Central Statistical Office (GUS) reported this month.
