Experts have told people in a public awareness campaign that vaping may be as hazardous as smoking, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
It cited experts as saying that electronic cigarettes are increasingly popular among young people in Poland.
"It's a fashion that is spreading very quickly," one school student was quoted as saying.
The education ministry has teamed up with sanitary inspectors to send out information on the risks of smoking e-cigarettes to schools throughout the country, according to the news agency.
Meanwhile, only 2 percent of respondents to a recent poll in Poland said they smoked e-cigarettes on a regular basis, while 1 percent described themselves as occasional e-cigarette users.
Overall, the percentage of Poles who smoke cigarettes, whether conventional or electronic, is “the lowest in history,” at 26 percent, pollster CBOS said in August.
