It told shoppers they can claim refunds for items they buy in brick-and-mortar stores if these items are faulty.
“However, if you accepted a discount for a specific, clearly stated fault, you cannot claim a refund for that fault,” the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) said on its website.
It added that a consumer “may request a repair, replacement or price reduction” and that the retailer must consider such a claim within 14 days.
Black Friday and Cyber Monday are when both regular and online stores offer special deals to shoppers. The tradition originated in the United States but is increasingly popular in Poland as well.
The two days are “embedded in the retail calendar for good and are officially regarded as the beginning of the Christmas shopping season,” the Polish consumer watchdog said.
Black Friday follows Thanksgiving Day in the United States and this year falls on November 29.
Meanwhile, Cyber Monday is the Monday following Thanksgiving and sees major discounts offered by online retailers.
