The drug had an estimated street value of more than PLN 60 million (EUR 14 million, USD 16 million), Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said at a news conference on Sunday.

He added that the bust—by officers from Poland's Central Bureau of Police Investigation (CBŚP), working together with investigators from the country’s tax administration—marked another major crackdown on drug smugglers in Poland in recent months.

Interior Minister Mariusz Kamiński said the operation was a “great success” for Polish law enforcement agencies, which he said prevented Europe from being inundated with heroin.

The chief of Poland's Central Bureau of Police Investigation, Paweł Półtorzycki, told reporters that 13 suspected drug smugglers have been detained following a coordinated operation by officers from various European countries.

The organised international crime group included one Pole, a 37-year-old man resident in the south of the country, Półtorzycki said.

The announcement came after officials in December said that Polish law enforcers confiscated almost 2 tonnes of cocaine from Colombia in what was hailed as one of the biggest crackdowns on drug smugglers in the country in the last 30 years.
