Speaking at a ceremony in Warsaw on Tuesday, Duda said: "I promise all my countrymen that I will do everything during the next five years of my presidency to help build a peaceful, safe and prosperous Poland, a nation developing at the best possible pace among the countries of the European Union and the wider world.”

Duda on Tuesday received a document from Poland’s National Electoral Commission (PKW) certifying his re-election as head of state.

He told those at the ceremony at Warsaw's Royal Castle that the “result of the election shows that democracy in Poland is doing well.”

He thanked voters for going to the polls in large numbers.

He added that the vote amid the coronaviorus pandemic marked "a success of democracy" and demonstrated that his nation was “maturing as a democracy.”

Duda this month won Poland’s presidential runoff election and secured another five-year term in office, defeating opposition-backed challenger Rafał Trzaskowski, according to final results announced by electoral officials.

Voter turnout in the July 12 runoff was 68.18 percent, up from 64.51 percent in the first round of voting two weeks earlier, according to the National Electoral Commission.

In a major speech in May, Duda summed up his five years in office and outlined his second-term vision for Poland.

He is scheduled to be sworn into his second term in office before both houses of Poland’s parliament on August 6.
