The 24-year-old Pole on Tuesday saw off the 19-year-old Italian 6-4, 7-6, 6-1 in their first-round men's singles match at the grass-court tournament in the British capital.
Hurkacz, who is currently ranked world No. 18 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), will next face the winner of a match between Finland's Emil Ruusuvuori and American Marcos Giron.

The Polish player, who is coached by American Craig Boynton, in April won the men's singles at the Miami Open, a major US tournament sometimes referred to as "the fifth Grand Slam."
Meanwhile, Poland’s Iga Świątek has progressed to the second round of the women's singles at Wimbledon with a 6-4, 6-4 win on Monday over Taiwan’s Hsieh Su-wei.
Świątek in 2018 won the Girls' Singles title at Wimbledon.
