The Polish defence ministry later tweeted: “The situation in Ukraine after the Russian attack and activities prepared by Poland under the 'Aid for Ukraine' program as well as support for the Ukrainian army were the main topics of the meeting" between Poland's Mariusz Błaszczak and Ukraine's Oleksii Reznikov in Warsaw on Tuesday.
Ukraine's Reznikov said on Twitter he "had seminal talks with" with Poland's Błaszczak.
He added: "We coordinated cooperation on the eve of the NATO Summit. I am grateful to Poland for the firm and consistent support of the Ukrainian people in the fight against the Russian invader."
After Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, Poland supported the Ukrainian armed forces with supplies of defensive arms and military equipment, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
The government in Warsaw has not provided details of this assistance or its value, it said.
Poland is also sending humanitarian aid to its eastern neighbour as Ukraine fights for its independence, the PAP news agency reported.
NATO leaders including US President Joe Biden are scheduled to meet for an "extraordinary" summit in Brussels on Thursday to discuss Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg has said the summit will "address Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, our strong support for Ukraine, and further strengthening NATO’s deterrence and defence."
Tuesday is day 27 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Poland on Tuesday reported it had taken in more than 2.14 million refugees fleeing Russia's attack on Ukraine.
