Addressing the UN Security Council on Tuesday, Krzysztof Szczerski said: "It is obvious that Poland and other countries neighboring Ukraine will not be able to shoulder the burden of this crisis on their own."
He added that "the unprecedented scale" of the crisis "requires an increased involvement of UN agencies and the support of the whole international community."
"Only a concerted effort will bring relief to the suffering," Szczerski said.
Poland on Wednesday reported it had welcomed 2.86 million refugees fleeing Russia’s war on Ukraine.
US President Joe Biden said last month that Poland was bearing the brunt of the humanitarian fallout from Russia's war in Ukraine, and added that the world should help the country deal with the refugee crisis.
