In the magazine today: Christmas Eve particularly is a family time in Poland and the holiday celebrations begin with a supper, to which Poles sit down when the first star appears in the sky and which begins with everyone sharing a white Christmas wafer and exchanging good wishes.

So what star is the Christmas Star? Paweł Preś of the Astronomical Institute of the University of Wrocław is looking at the December night sky with us. Also: a special award from the Polish Academy of Sciences to astronomer Dorota Skowron for her work on the revolutionary 3D map of the Milky Way; and Jarosław Juszkiewicz in Chorzów tells us about the Silesian Planetarium, the largest and oldest planetarium in Poland, celebrating its 65th anniversary with a major refurbishment.
