The 19-year-old is the only Pole, and one of only two Europeans, among the 15 violinists from around the world who have made it through to the second stage of the international violin competition.
Five other Polish violinists have failed to get past the first round.
The second stage of the Wieniawski Competition opened in Poznań on Wednesday and runs until Sunday, with Niedziółka appearing to be the public's favourite.
The prizewinners’ names will be announced on October 21. The top prize winner will walk away with a cash prize of EUR 50,000.
Danuta Isler spoke to renowned Polish violinist Janusz Wawrowski, and some of his students at the Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, who have been following the competition and keeping their fingers crossed for Niedziółka.
