The book, called Dobrissimo! Opera od Kuchni (Opera Backstage), is made up of 20 chapters inspired by 20 stories about opera and cuisine.

The publication, released by Znak Publishing House, is filled with photographs and recipes for dishes such as leek tart, potato dumplings with butter and sage, goulash, and rhubarb and strawberry cake.

"When I think about Christmas I see Polish Christmas, absolutely," Kurzak, one of the world's most admired sopranos, told Radio Poland's Danuta Isler at the launch of the book.

"For me it means red borscht, and pierogi with sour cabbage and wild mushrooms inside, all homemade," she added.
