Almost one year into Russia’s invasion, the Norwegian Refugee Council asked refugees from Ukraine living in neighboring host countries, including Poland, what their life has been like following their forced displacement.

“There are hidden hardships because of the nature of the needs that refugees have, which are different to local citizens,” Charmain Mohamed of the Norwegian Refugee Council told Radio Poland’s Agnieszka Łaszczuk.

In order to make ends meet, many refugees are “cutting back on nutritious food” or “skipping meals,” said Mohamed, who is one of the authors of The Hidden Hardship: 1 Year Living in Forced Displacement for Refugees from Ukraine report.
