In response to the dangers facing reporters, the Military Training Centre for Foreign Operations in Kielce, southern Poland, offers intensive courses to prepare journalists for missions in conflict areas.
“We expose journalists to scenarios such as shelling or sniper attacks, and teach them how to administer first aid to themselves and others," said the centre’s commander, Col. Adam Włoczewski.
"On one hand, you need to let a journalist do his or her job; on the other, the soldiers on the spot have to respond to any situations and, if necessary, take the journalist away," he added.
