Consumers will be encouraged to recycle by being offered refunds on returned containers.
Earlier this week, beverage industry executives got together to discuss the benefits and challenges of the project.
“The deposit system is designed to help significantly reduce environmental pollution from beverage packaging, but also to ensure that what we manage to collect is then recycled,” said Andrzej Gantner of the Polish Federation of Food Producers.
Beverage producers have been tasked with putting the system into operation.
