Firefighters were called out more than 1,500 times over the weekend to deal with the aftermath of gales, blizzards and icy roads.
The Tatra National Park in the south of the country has warned tourists about dangerous conditions at higher elevations, including deep snowdrifts and snow cornices, exacerbated by strong winds.
A level-3 avalanche warning was in effect in the southern Tatra mountains, with rescuers strongly advising against trips to higher-altitude areas.
