EU proposes 25% counter-tariffs on US goods: audio report

In response to Donald Trump's new tariffs on aluminium and steel, the European Commission has proposed retaliatory duties of up to 25 percent on a range of US goods.

The proposal is now waiting for approval from EU member states.

In the meantime, the European Union is working on more counter-tariffs to respond to Washington's trade war.

Despite the escalation, Brussels' offer to the United States to mutually eliminate tariffs is still on the table.

Europe is ready to negotiate with the US.

We have offered zero-for-zero tariffs for industrial goods.

Because we're always ready for a good deal.

But we’re also prepared to respond with countermeasures.
