Poland, Sweden sign submarine deal

The Polish and Swedish defence ministers signed a memorandum of understanding in Warsaw on Wednesday for the acquisition of Swedish submarines by Poland under its Orca programme.

The agreement follows a decision announced by Warsaw in late November to select Sweden as its preferred partner for the purchase of three new submarines for the Polish navy.

The memorandum of understanding outlines the main terms of the deal, including delivery schedules and industrial participation, according to officials.
