The two Western Balkan countries have long criticised what they say is slow progress on their accession bids.
“Given the current geopolitical situation across the Western Balkans and the European Union, it is particularly clear that the delay shouldn’t have happened," Poland’s Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau said on Monday.
"Then again, this is a big success that would hopefully lead to a breakthrough which has been so much expected in the Balkans,” he added.
