Queried in an interview about whether the country has or is going to have the strongest army among NATO members in Europe, Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak said: "It is, but foreign media have already reported that Poland is on track to build Europe’s most powerful army."
He was referring to reports including a November article in the Politico news service, headlined “Meet Europe’s Coming Military Superpower: Poland.”
Błaszczak told Poland’s state-run television outlet TVP Info on Tuesday: "Indeed, we are consistently bolstering the military and increasing the number of troops. At the moment, Poland’s military is 164,000 strong, according to data as of the end of 2022."
Radio Poland’s Michał Owczarek has the story.
