While the stories of some brave heroines of the insurgency are not widely known, the battle for a free Warsaw and Poland would not have been the same without them.
A new exhibition, The Heroines' Journey: The Women's Rising, at the Polish capital's Warsaw Rising Museum encourages visitors to explore the female perspective on the wartime revolt, which historians say was the largest military operation by any underground resistance movement in German-occupied Europe.
