The issue has yet to be discussed by the member countries' ambassadors during a meeting in Brussels on Wednesday, according to the Polish state news agency.

Public broadcaster Polish Radio reported earlier on Tuesday that the European Commission was also considering introducing sanctions on road and sea transportation to and from Russia, in response to reports of atrocities and civilian deaths in the Ukrainian town of Bucha.

Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki on Monday called for the establishment of an international committee to investigate what he called the crime of genocide committed by Russian forces in Ukraine.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Sunday urged an investigation into civilian deaths in Bucha, a town abandoned by Russian forces outside the Ukrainian capital Kyiv.

US President Joe Biden has called for a war crimes trial against Russian President Vladimir Putin.
