The conference will be attended by national ministers for refugees, Polish state news agency PAP has reported.
According to the politico.eu website, the event will bring together officials from Ukraine’s neighbours, such as Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Moldova, as well as countries that have dealt with refugee waves, including Britain, Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic.
Poland’s commissioner for refugees, Paweł Szefernaker, confirmed the news on Thursday, saying: “The meeting will be the first such a forum to exchange information and experience linked to the stay and adaptation of Ukrainian war refugees in our countries.”
'Systemic solutions' needed
Szefernaker told Polish state news agency PAP that the conference would take place as an initiative by Poland’s Interior Minister Mariusz Kamiński.
The get-together will feature “mostly deputy interior ministers who oversee their national refugee support policies,” Szefernaker added.
“In our countries we have many new challenges, some of the issues require systemic solutions,” he also said, as quoted by politico.eu.
Friday is day 72 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Poland on Thursday reported it had welcomed more than 3.16 million refugees fleeing Russia’s war on Ukraine.
In total, 5.7 million Ukrainians — mostly women and children — have fled their country since the Russian assault began, according to the United Nations refugee agency, UNHCR, politico.eu reported.
