Mateusz Morawiecki delivered the assessment at a high-profile business conference in the western Polish city of Poznań, the state news agency PAP reported.
He told the Impact’22 conference: “This wonderful celebration of innovativeness has been overshadowed by Russia’s brutal aggression against Ukraine.”
Morawiecki added: “This war is having an impact on everything that is happening in the economy and affecting socio-economic policies in all the countries of the world.”
He argued that "the current situation is unprecedented.”
“In addition to the COVID-19 pandemic, disrupted supply chains and inflation, we now face geopolitical challenges,” he said.
Referring to Russia’s war on Ukraine, Morawiecki urged: “As much as possible, we need to become independent from resources provided by countries that are aggressive and barbaric in their development.”
He added: “Let’s become independent from Russian oil and gas, but also from other suppliers, who provide us with those resources at steep prices today, often using the proceeds for bad aims.”
The two-day Impact conference has brought together decision makers in areas such as science, business, media and politics, to explore the world’s economic and technological future, organisers said.
This year’s edition, Impact’22, features more than 400 speakers, including noted Israeli historian Yuval Noah Harari, renowned business thinker Erin Meyer and former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt, reporters were told.
Wednesday is day 77 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
