Joe Biden approved the legislation while on a visit to Seoul, South Korea, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

Earlier this week, the US leader said: "This package will allow us to send even more weapons and ammunition to Ukraine as they defend their democracy and freedom."

Military, economic and humanitarian aid for Ukraine

The legislation includes $6 billion for armoured vehicles and air defences, among other military support, as well as economic and humanitarian assistance, reporters were told.

In a previous move to help Ukraine fight Russia, Biden earlier this month signed the Ukraine Democracy Defense Lend-Lease Act of 2022, a law that aims to streamline the process of supplying the country with military equipment.

Saturday is day 87 of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
