Despite having lost limbs to amputation and going through post-traumatic stress, these Ukrainian soldiers cannot wait to return to the fight.
One soldier, known as "Bison", who spoke to the Polish Press Agency PAP said, "Losing my leg in the defence of my country is lowest price I could pay."
Like many others, he is getting used to a new life with a prosthetic limb. And like them, he wants to return to the front and is entirely focussed on rehabilitation.
In the suburbs of Kiyv is a private clinic, previously helping the victims of car accidents, which has been turned into a centre for veteran rehabilitation.
Andrij Leonidowicz, who heads rehabilitation in the clinic, told PAP.PL that all the equipment used for rehabilitation has been donated and the staff work pro bono.
